With the advent of the internet revolution and with more and more people using the search engines and in particular Google to look for their products and or services there has been an absolute proliferation of web site design companies looking to snare business.
If you perform a search design companies there are well over twenty companies on the very first page of Google all saying the same things and all offering more or less the same thing. Obviously there are price differences between the companies offerings and they will have different looking web sites but the issue facing the unsavvy web user is which company to use. If they are all saying the same thing how does one go about making an informed decision.
Below I will list a few tips and pointers you should possibly ask your potential web design company when you do chat with them over the phone. I do make very clear that you should have a phone chat with your company and not do things via email.
1) Make sure that the web site design company is happy to have a face to face meeting with you in the first instance. If they are reticent or they are making excuses about a face to face meeting and are pushing the email option then this could be an issue. The reason for this is very clear that at the first face to face design meeting you will be able to more clearly articulate your design thoughts and expectations of the web site outcomes. More often than not design ideas can get lost over the email and internet so this is not an ideal way to go.
2) Ask your potential web design company if you are able to call a few of their past clients or even view some of their testimonials online. On their website you should be able not only to see some past web projects but there should be an area of testimonials. If they do not have these then in my opinion something is a miss.
3) Web design companies must be able to quote you within a certain time period. If they take too long to get a quote to you then how on earth are they going to be able to stick to a time line when it comes to your all important project.
4) One other really important issue is that the web company should either have some search engine knowledge or be able to recommend a SEO company whom you can work with. The reason for this is that there is no point having a new website designed if you are not able to be found on Google.
These are just a few minor tips to go by but there are a lot more. At the end of the day if the deal you are being offered is too good then you should be very careful.
